Mornings on 2 Anchor

Gasia Mikaelian joined KTVU in 2005: she’s reported live on everything from the North Bay wildfires to a Super Bowl: some of her most fulfilling work came during the height of the COVID pandemic, in a series exploring the pandemic’s effect on mental health.

Gasia started her career as a reporter at KSWT in Yuma, Arizona. She then reported and anchored at WAFF in Huntsville, Alabama, XETV in San Diego and KPRC in Houston before coming to KTVU.

Gasia grew up in Livermore and went to Las Positas Community College before earning a journalism degree at San Diego State University. She is grateful to be in the Bay Area – after having lived in various other states, and has a renewed appreciation for the fantastic weather, limitless opportunities for outdoor activities, and most of all, the warm, genuine nature of the people who call this region home.

When not at work, you can find Gasia cooking for her family, on a hike in the East Bay hills, or poking through the shelves of her favorite thrift shops.

Counting votes in California could take a long time
