ALAMEDA, Calif. (KTVU) - Alameda Point's water is now safe for drinking according state and local water agencies.
The State Water Resources Control Board and Division of Drinking Water deemed the water safe Friday evening. The water matches East Bay Municipal Utility District water quality supply standards.
The city of Alameda issued the advisory on Tuesday. By Thursday night, residents could make bodily contact with the water Late yesterday, the second round of test results of Alameda Point’s potable water system came back clear for bacteria, according to the city.
The comprehensive results that came in Friday tested negative for harmful contaminants. The irrigation well that was the source of the non-potable water that mixed with the drinking water supply remains disconnected from the drinking water system.
