Yosemite National Park said a San Jose man missing since last month was found dead this weekend.

The body Scott Tenczar, 48, was found dead on Saturday, park spokesman Scott Gediman said. His body was found by hikers in a remote northeastern portion of the trail. Gediman said there was no more information to release as it was early in the investigation.

Tenczar had last seen on July 25 at the Bridgeport Ranger Station, about a week and a half after the Ferguson Fire broke out.

He had planned to backpack from Robinson Creek to Crown Lake, Matterhorn canyon and several other locations in the park between then and Aug. 5.

Authorities say he was an experienced hiker.
