Elderly dog rescued from steep embankment in Marin County
MARIN COUNTY, Calif. (BCN) - A man and his missing dog were rescued Sunday night by the Marin County Sheriff's Office's Search and Rescue team.
The 55-year-old Marin County man was searching for his black Labrador Shadow who went missing Friday. On Sunday, he heard him barking as he searched an off-trail area near Dias Ridge in unincorporated Marin County near Mill Valley, said Molly Williams, administrative director of the Search
and Rescue unit.
The owner found heard his 14-year-old dog barking below a steep embankment around 8 p.m. The dog was unable to get out on his own and his owner would not have been able to carry him out of the steep drainage area where he was found, Williams said.
The State Parks Department contacted the Search and Rescue team, and more than two dozen volunteers responded. Team members heard the hiker calling out and found him and his dog Shadow, who was carried out on a litter, Williams said.
