Man shot in finger on I-580 near Edwards in Oakland
OAKLAND, Calif. (KTVU) - Law enforcement confirmed a freeway shooting in Oakland Monday evening on eastbound I-580 at near Edwards Avenue.
California Highway Patrol reported as of 8:38 p.m. there is police activity and a severe traffic alert on 580 at Seminary. All lanes are blocked.
Oakland CHP says at 8:20 p.m. a man was driving eastbound on 580 at Edwards Ave. when a bullet came through his windshield hitting him in his finger.
He drove to Golf Links Road and pulled off the freeway to call CHP. It is unknown where the bullet came from. The CHP is doing traffic breaks along 580 from Seminary to Golf Links looking for evidence.
Motorists are advised to expect delays and to seek alternate routes and to avoid the area.
There is no estimated time to reopen the roadway.
