Lyft suspends Bay Area e-bike program after some catch fire

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (KTVU) - San Francisco-based Lyft is pulling its e-bikes from Bay Area streets after two bikes burst into flames.

The fires occurred in San Francisco and appear to have started from the bikes' batteries, according to a report from the SFGate. 

On July 27, someone tweeted out a photo of a charred bike found at Folsom and Second streets. Then on July 31, a bike docked near Page and Scott streets reportedly caught fire. 

Lyft says no one was injured, but the company is removing its fleet of e-bikes from San Francisco, Oakland, and San Jose to investigate.

The company says it's not ruling out vandalism.
