Marin square fire contained to vacant car parts store
SAN RAFAEL, Calif. (BCN) - San Rafael firefighters moved quickly to prevent the spread of a fire this evening from one unit of the Marin Square Shopping Center to the rest of the center.
The fire in an end unit of the center, at 75 Bellam Blvd., was reported at 6:23 p.m. tonight. San Rafael Fire Chief Christopher Gray said the fire started on the outside of the structure, a vacant former auto parts
store, and worked its way to interior walls.
Firefighters took less than 15 minutes to put out the fire, Gray said. "They were aggressively working to make sure they limited the spread of the fire." No one was injured, he added, and no other businesses in the center were affected.
It wasn't known tonight how the fire started, Gray said, or whether it was intentionally set.
