Vineyard worker killed in grape picking machine accident
NAPA COUNTY, Calif. (KTVU) - A vineyard worker was killed Monday in an accident involving a grape picking machine.
Cal Fire confirms crews responded to reports of a person stuck in a grape picker at the Beaucanon Winery located at 1006 Monticello Rd in Napa.
The victim, identified as 49-year-old Leon Marcelo Lua, of Napa was pronounced dead at 12:45 p.m.
This is the 4th worker death at a North Bay winery over the past three years. Back in 2016, an accident at the Joel Gott winery in Napa claimed a worker's life. Last year, at Sutter Home winery in St. Helena, a worker died from a fall. Last May, at Arrowhead Vineyard in Sonoma County, a worker died in a tractor accident.
Cal OSHA is investigating the accident.
