North Texas teen surprises mom with college acceptance letter
GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas - A Grand Prairie mother had one of those moments recently when she was called in for a meeting with her daughter’s principal.
“Before we talk about that, there’s something else we need to talk about that happened today. It happened today and I’m going to let Promise tell you what happened,” the principal said.
But the news LaJuana McCree got was something to celebrate about.
“I got accepted into Grambling!” her daughter, Promise McCree, said.
Video of the surprise shows McCree’s reaction. She couldn’t contain her excitement about her daughter’s future college plans.
The Grand Prairie ISD senior got accepted to Grambling State University in Louisiana.
She’s part of the first graduating class at South Grand Prairie Early College High School. She’s also the first person in her family to head to college.
“Promise’s four years of hard work, her mom’s undying support, and the dedication of her teachers have all lead to one dance-worthy moment,” Grand Prairie ISD said.
She plans to major in criminal psychology.
