Pit bull credited with saving Stockton woman and baby
STOCKTON, Calif. (KTVU) - A dog turned out to be a life saver for a Stockton woman who credits her pit bull with saving her and her baby’s lives late Sunday night.
On June 3 just before midnight, an 8-month-old pit bull named "Sasha" alerted her family to flames that were beginning to surround their home. Latana Chai said her dog was outside and repeatedly crashed into the door while barking nonstop until Chai came outside.
Sasha bolted inside and by then Chai discovered that two units of a fourplex – her's and her neighbor's – were on fire.
“As soon as I got to the door, she runs in [and] starts barking, and I’m like, ‘What the heck is wrong with you?’ Like, ‘You don’t do this,’” Chai said, per KCRA. “I looked up and there’s black smoke coming from my neighbor’s house. You [could] see flames coming out.”
Sasha’s owner says she hopes the incident helps change the perception of pit bulls as family pets.
