San Francisco's Anchor Brewing sold to Sapporo
SAN FRANCISCO (KTVU) - San Francisco's Anchor Brewing is being sold to Japanese beer maker, Sapporo.
Anchor Brewing has been making beer in San Francisco for the past 120 years. The company helped pioneer the craft beer movement and is best known for its popular Anchor Steam Beer.
CEO of Anchor Brewing, Keith Greggor, says Sapporo is a perfect fit to meet the future goals of the brewery.
Greggor says, "Sapporo shares our values. They appreciate our time honored approach to brewing and they have a long-term vision for Anchor in San Francisco as well as other markets around the world."
Greggor added that Anchor Beer will still be brewed at the company's Potrero Hill headquarters in San Francisco and there will not be any changes to its popular beer recipes.
The price of the deal has not been publicly disclosed.
