UCSF providing free dental care for children
February is national children's dental health month.
Each year, dentists throughout the country hold free screenings for kids in February.
It's called Give Kids A Smile.
To mark the occasion, UCSF School of Dentistry is holding an event on Saturday for children, ages 3 to 17.
Dental students and faculty are volunteering their time for the screenings, as well as providing free sealants and fluoride treatments as needed.
Lisa Berens, DDS, MPH, an Associate Clinical Professor and Divsion Chair at the UCSF School of Dentistry, and Co-Director of CavityFree SF spoke to KTVU about the event and the need to improve children's oral health.
