EMERYVILLE (BCN)— A $10,000 reward is being offered for information that helps investigators determine the cause of a 6-alarm fire last week in Emeryville, Alameda County Fire Department officials said today.
The fire was reported at about 2:45 a.m. July 6 at 3800 San Pablo
Ave. and did an estimated $23 million in damage to a 5-story apartment complex under construction, four townhomes and an auto repair shop, including 12 cars.
No one was injured.
A response team from the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives began investigating the cause and origin of the fire July 7.
The ATF investigates at the request of local authorities to help investigate large and complex fires and explosions.
"We are awaiting laboratory results and other information, and we anticipate receiving a full report in the next 30 days," ATF San Francisco Field Division Special Agent in Charge Jill Snyder said in a statement.
"If anyone has information about what occurred that morning, we encourage them to come forward" she said.
ATF spokeswoman Lisa Meiman said the report should indicate the cause and origin of the fire to the extent investigators were able to determine it.
Investigators interviewed neighbors, first responders, the building contractors and the developers -- anyone who might have information about the cause and origin, Meiman said.
The ATF finished its investigation July 13 and will now turn the investigation back over to local fire officials.
