13-year-old struck by garbage truck in San Bruno

SAN BRUNO, Calif. - A 13-year-old was struck by a garbage truck in San Bruno and suffered major injuries, police said.

Sgt. Scott Smithmatungol said the collision occurred on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. on the 1400 block of Niles Avenue. 

The 37-year-old Watonsville driver remained on scene and cooperated with investigators, police said. 

Preliminary findings indicate that alcohol and narcotics were not factors in the crash.

Police did not release any more details.
