2 found dead with gunshot wounds at Novato home

An investigation is under way near Novato after two people were found shot to death inside a home.

The Marin County Sheriff's Office says there is no threat to the public at large. They are calling this an isolated incident.

The two victims are a man and woman, both about 75 years old. They were found dead inside the home which is located at the top of a hill.

The discovery was made by some of their relatives who came over for a visit. They called for help at around 8:30 a.m. after finding the two people dead inside one of the bedrooms.

The home is at 611 Bugeia Lane in an unincorporated area of Novato.

Neighbors tell us the same couple has lived in the home for a long time and people who live nearby are stunned.

"Based on the initial investigation it appears to be an isolated incident connected to this residence," said Lt. Doug Pittman with the Marin County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office won't talk about any prior calls that were made to the home.

Right now detectives are staying outside of the home awaiting a search warrant to go back inside and collect evidence and recover the bodies.

It's likely to remain an active crime scene for a good part of the day.
