A two-apartment duplex is a total loss after it was consumed by a fire Saturday afternoon, San Jose officials said.

San Jose firefighters battled the three-alarm fire at a home in the 2400 block of Clyda Drive in East San Jose. The fire, which broke out at 2:40 p.m., left 11 people displaced from their homes.

Officials reported one juvenile suffered burn injuries, but did not provide the extent or identify the child. Damage was also reported to the backyard shed and fence of a nearby home, but no damage to the home itself.

A power pole was also left damaged.

"We actually had active power lines down during the firefight, so that hampered our ability to get in tight to the fire," said San Jose Fire Battalion Chief, Sean Lovens.

Nearly two dozen homes were temporarily left without electricity, PG&E said. Fixes were expected to occur overnight or into the morning.

The cause of the fire has not been disclosed.
