3 Bay Bridge lanes reopen after big rig overturns, possibly due to high winds
SAN FRANCISCO (KTVU/BCN) - Three of the left westbound lanes on the Bay Bridge have reopened tonight, after a big rig overturned and blocked all lanes just east of Treasure Island, according to Caltrans officials.
The big rig may have overturned due to high winds caused by a storm that arrived in the Bay Area this evening, Oakland fire officials said. Close to 50-mile an hour winds were reported around the time of the accident.
The incident was first reported at 8:24 p.m.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the big rig had landed on its side, initially blocking all westbound lanes. No other vehicles were involved.
Two other westbound lanes remained closed.
Information about the condition of the driver of the big rig was not immediately available.
