70-year-old Milpitas woman arrested, suspected of strangling toddler grandson to death
MILPITAS, Calif. (KTVU) - A Milpitas grandmother is accused in the death of her 3-year-old grandson.
Officers responded at 4:44 p.m. Wednesday to a report of an unresponsive child at a home in the 700 block of Luz Del Sol Loop.
An officer performed CPR, and the child, identified as Ayub Hassan, was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators determined the child's death was a homicide. The Santa Clara County medical examiner's office said the child died of "manual strangulation."
The child's grandmother, 70-year-old Foos Abdi Hashi was arrested at 6:20 p.m. San Jose.
She was booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail for homicide and is being held without bail. Officers said she is the paternal grandparent of the victim.
She is scheduled to appear in court in Santa Clara County on Friday afternoon.
