89-year-old grandmother is bridesmaid in granddaughter's wedding
PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa (WTXF) -- A family from Plymouth Meeting just proved to the world that you’re never too old to be a bridesmaid.
Betty Govern, aka Nana Betty, was able to stand next to her granddaughter, Christine Quinn on her special day.
Quinn told The Huffington Post that including her 89-year-old grandmother in the wedding party was a no brainer. She’s one of her best friends.
“While she doesn’t live that close, we have continually made it a point to spend as much time together as possible,” Quinn told the Huffington Post. “She just has an amazing sense of humor and outlook on life that I strive to emulate every day. Everyone loves her.”
But it took a little convincing for Nana Betty to agree to be a part of the wedding party.
"She asked me about 10 times, 'Are you sure?' and 'Why would you want an old lady in your bridal party?'" Quinn said. "A few times she even said 'All of your bridesmaids are young and pretty, why would you want me?' Obviously Nana is beautiful too. Just look at those photos!"
Eventually Nana Betty agreed, and according to Quinn, a good time was had by all.
“You’re only as old as you feel,” said Nana Betty. “And I feel young today.”
