Reckless driving leads to shooting in Livermore

LIVERMORE, Calif. - A 40-year-old man was shot and wounded while trying to get the license plate of a reckless driver in a Livermore neighborhood, a day after a sideshow in the same neighborhood.
Livermore police received reports of multiple vehicles driving recklessly at Chestnut and North M. streets, a residential area of the city, according to Livermore police's Facebook page.
The officers heard gunshots when they approached the area, police said.

Police found a victim with gunshot wounds while the suspect vehicle drove off, officials said. They caught up to the car near Murietta and Alameda and arrested the driver, Manuel Ixta, 20, of Livermore for evading police.
The victim was transported to the hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Video obtained by KTVU shows a raucous sideshow in the same area of Livermore on Monday night.
Tara Lantz said she came out of her home and started recording.
"They were just jumping on the street, they were almost getting hit, people were just screaming for the cars that were trying to get through," Lantz said.

One person shot during Livermore sideshow
Livermore police said one person was shot and one arrested during a sideshow early Wednesday. Footage seen here shows a sideshow in the same area from the night before.
At one point, Lantz said she dove for cover after a car appeared to be speeding toward her.
"Extremely uncalled for," she said. "Unsafe. I believe that any parents who know that their child is acting that way, needs to take their license."
Though there was reckless driving on consecutive nights, it is unusual for it to take place in a residential area of Livermore.
"I've personally have noticed in recent years more of the donuts, and so we have been working to try and prevent that," said Livermore Mayor Bob Woerner.
Most in the Bay Area occur in Oakland, often with hundreds of people in attendance.
The case is still under investigation.
