SAN FRANCISCO (KTVU) - All lanes of Interstate Highway 280 in San Francisco are open, after a garbage truck crash this evening caused lanes in both directions to close for hours, snarling traffic during the rush hour commute.
The incident occurred at about 5:30 p.m. near the Alemany Boulevard offramp, CHP officials said.
A garbage truck heading north crashed into the highway's center divider, crossing into the southbound lanes. At least three southbound lanes were closed and at least one northbound lane was closed, according to the
CHP.
All lanes reopened by about 9 p.m.
During the ordeal, drivers were asked to avoid the area.
It was not immediately clear if anyone was seriously injured.
