SAN FRANCISCO (KTVU) - Amazon is looking to acquire a chain of movie theaters. Bloomberg reports the e-commerce giant is looking to acquire Landmark Theatres, a small chain of 50 theaters across the country that focuses on independent and foreign films.
Experts say if Amazon does buy the chain, it would represent the next step in the company's efforts to become an entertainment giant.
Landmark operates several Bay Area theaters including Opera Plaza Cinema on Van Ness Avenue in San Francisco, Embarcadero Cinema Center and The Clay Theatre on Fillmore.
Sources say a deal has not yet been finalized.
