Amazon asks corporate workers to return to the office five days a week

LOS ANGELES - Amazon recently announced that its corporate employees would be required to work in the office five days a week, beginning Jan. 2, 2025. 

This significant shift moves away from the hybrid model that allowed employees to work remotely for two days a week. Amazon's CEO, Andy Jassy, explained that the decision is rooted in enhancing collaboration, innovation, and maintaining the company’s unique corporate culture.

"Before the pandemic, it was not a given that folks could work remotely two days a week, and that will also be true moving forward," Jassy wrote in a memo to staff. "Our expectation is that people will be in the office outside of extenuating circumstances."

The company says it believes that physical presence is crucial for fostering teamwork, idea generation, and more effective problem-solving.
