Another East Bay highway shooting; female passenger hurt by shattered glass

A woman was cut by flying glass in the latest shooting on an east bay freeway.

It happened at about 9 p.m. Friday, on westbound Highway 4, near Bailey Road in the Bay Point area, said Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office.

The woman was a passenger in a pickup truck, when a bullet shattered a back window.

While she was cut by the broken glass, she nor the driver were hit by the bullet.

They then drove to a gas station for help.

The woman went to the hospital as a precaution.

It is believed the shot came from another vehicle, and the shooter was able to get away.

There have been more than 20 shootings on highways in Contra Costa and Alameda Counties since November.
