WINDSOR, Calif. (KTVU) - The case of a stolen barbecue from a Windsor grocery store worth more than $6,000 appears to be coming to a close thanks to an alert Santa Rosa resident who saw KTVU's coverage of the theft.
Sonoma County Sheriff made an arrest on July 14 after the 800-pound, 15-foot bbq went missing from Oliver's Grocery Store on July 9.
The resident who called deputies was familiar with the distinctive black truck seen on surveillance video that rolled into the store's parking lot and hitched the bbq trailer to their vehicle.
Windsor and Sonoma County sheriff's deputies investigated the truck owner and identified 34-year-old Santa Rosa resident Gerald Corum. A search warrant was issued for Corum's home on the 2400 block of College Park Cir in Santa Rosa.
Detectives found the dolly that belonged to Oliver's at the residence and booked Corum into the county jail on vehicle theft charges (the barbecue trailer is considered a vehicle according the sheriff's office) and possession of stolen property.
Corum posted $5,000 bail. But authorities say the barbecue trailer is still missing.
Police ask if anyone knows the whereabouts of the barbeque trailer, they are highly encouraged to contact Property Crimes detectives at 707-565-2185.
