ALAMEDA, Calif. (BCN/KTVU) - An arrest has been made in a string of attempted sexual assaults over the past month at Crown Beach in Alameda.
Authorities say Alameda Police Department made the arrest Wednesday morning and had notified undercover Regional Park District Police Department (EBRPD) officers while they were conducting surveillance near the popular beach.
Despite the arrest, investigators continue to gather evidence.
Authorities are still investigating reports of three attempted sexual assaults over the past month.
The latest attack was reported on Tuesday at Robert W. Crown Memorial State Beach in the western area of the park. Two previous incidents occurred in the same area on Saturday and on Aug. 6, according to police.
All three of the attacks targeted women who were alone, and happened before noon, according to police.
EBRPD thanked park patrons and community members as well as many who called in with tips on encounters with the male who matched the suspect's description.
