San Francisco police arrest suspect in 1 of 2 Black Friday homicides
SAN FRANCISCO - The San Francisco Police Department announced the arrest of a suspect in a November homicide Wednesday.
Police said they arrested 18-year-old Hector Armando Lopez Romero for the stabbing death of a person on Nov. 29 around 6:25 a.m. in the Mission District on Mission and Sycamore Streets.
The victim was taken to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.
Mission District patrol officers located Romero and took him into custody. When investigators searched homes tied to Romero, they found evidence linking him to the Black Friday stabbing, officials said.
Romero was arrested and taken to the San Francisco County Jail on homicide charges.
The victim's identity was not released and the circumstances leading up to the stabbing remain unclear.
The Mission District stabbing was the first homicide reported in San Francisco on Nov. 29. Later that night, around 9:40 p.m., officers responded to Gould Street in the Bayview neighborhood for a shooting.
A man there died at the scene, officials said. His identity was not released. San Francisco police have not said whether an arrest has been made in connection to the Bayview shooting.
