A's officially drop 'Oakland' from team name, logo

OAKLAND, Calif. - The A's have officially dropped Oakland from the baseball team's name.

The team says it's now known simply as the Athletics.

The team will be playing in Sacramento for the next three seasons with plans to move to Las Vegas eventually.

Meanwhile, the Oakland Roots Sports Club plans to play soccer games at the Oakland Coliseum in 2025. 

Also, Major League Cricket could also be headed to play at the old A's stadium in June.
