Aunt arrested after boy left in hot car
(KTVU) Sunnyvale, Calif. - Here's KTVU crime reporter Henry Lee's Rap Sheet blog for July 7, 2016:
AUNT ARRESTED AFTER BOY FOUND ALONE IN CAR: A woman was arrested in Sunnyvale after allegedly leaving her 2-year-old nephew alone in a car, police said today.
Yesenia Reyes-Zapata, 22, told police that the boy had fallen asleep in her Acura and that she forgot he was there as she parked outside the Safeway store at 150 East El Camino Real, according to the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety.
A citizen noticed the boy inside the car about 5:20 p.m. Saturday and called police. Officers found the boy locked inside the vehicle with the windows rolled up and the child "suffering from heat-related medical distress," police said.
Police broke out a car window and removed the boy, who was checked out by paramedics.
Reyes-Zapata arrived about 20 minutes later and was arrested on suspicion of child endangerment.
METH IN NETHER REGION: A man wearing make-up, a dress and a wig was arrested after trying to hide meth in his rear end, Daly City police said today.
The investigation began about 11:15 p.m. Friday when Officer Patrick Dolan spotted a white Subaru Outback blocking a lane of traffic near Washington Street and Sullivan Avenue.
The driver, a 46-year-old Vallejo man, didn't immediately pull over and drove into the parking lot of an In-N-Out Burger restaurant. Dolan walked up to the car and found a man wearing make-up, a pink dress and a wig.
"The officer noted the subject was fondling something in his groin area and then saw the subject toss several items from under his dress onto the floorboard of his vehicle," police said.
Upon closer inspection, Dolan realized that they were about 10 pairs of panties, authorities said. The man appeared nervous and "had no explanation for the underwear," police said.
Dolan smelled the odor of marijuana, and a search of the Subaru uncovered a glass narcotics pipe and a container with methamphetamine inside, police said.
After he was placed in the back of a patrol car, the suspect fidgeted with his handcuffs and tried to sit on his knees on the floorboard of the car, police said. He also "made several aggressive and deliberate movements, as if he was struggling to put something" in his rear end, police said.
As the police car arrived at the station, the officer asked the suspect to get out. As he did, the officer realized that the man's dress was pulled above his waist and to one side, "exposing one butt cheek," police said.
The officer told the suspect to come clean, and he admitted to trying to hide meth in his rear end, police said.
