Authorities investigating 18th East Bay freeway shooting

Authorities in Pittsburg are investigating the latest freeway shooting in the East Bay.

The victim was shot while driving on westbound Highway 4, near Loveridge Road at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday.

The car went off the highway, and onto California Avenue, where it crashed into a fence

Officers closed down a section of westbound 4 overnight to investigate the shooting.

The road has reopened for the morning commute.

This was the 18th freeway shooting in the East Bay in the past six months.

Investigators said many of the previous shootings were gang-related.

It is unclear of the motive behind this shooting, however.
