Baby girl born at midnight on New Year's in San Leandro
SAN LEANDRO, Calif. - One of the first babies, if not the first, birthed in the Bay Area is an adorable girl delivered in San Leandro.
Raelynn James of Union City was born Jan. 1 exactly at midnight, according to Antonia Ehlers, a spokeswoman for Kaiser Permanente Northern California.
Baby Raeylynn Greenwell clocked in at 8 pounds and measured 18-1/2 inches, and is the daughter of Sophia Greenwell, and her dad, James Greenwell IV.
Everyone is doing well and is excited about what the future holds, Ahlers said.
"Everyone was so nice," Sophia Greenwell said in a statement of the San Leandro Medical Center staff. "The nurses were super uplifting. I even had a nurse whom I called ‘Mom.’"
Raelynn is the youngest of five sisters. Her other siblings are 17, 8, 5 and 4.
"We’re beyond blessed," Sophia Greenwell said in a statement. "She’s perfect."
