BART and the Valley Transportation Agency will begin new tests on trains Monday in the South Bay. The testing is part of the next phase of extending BART through Santa Clara County

The Berryessa station in San Jose is supposed to open later this year.

But before it does, BART and VTA, which operate these trains in the South Bay, have to test the tracks.
That new phase starts Monday.

People who live nearby may see and hear some of the test trains running along the 10-mile stretch of track up to 20 hours  a day, every day for the next several months.

BART and VTA says they've taken steps to mitigate the noise for people who live near these tracks. Some homeowners even received new, multi-paned windows and insulation.
