Bay Area drivers face wet roads

BAY AREA, Calif. (KTVU) - Drivers are dealing with rain and wet roads Tuesday.

KTVU's Sal Castaneda says as of 7 a.m. there were at least 60 traffic incidents on Bay Area roadways. 

KTVU meteorologist Steve Paulsen said the rainfall would be on and off throughout the morning, with more storms through at least Thursday.

Some of the hardest hit areas will be in the Santa Cruz Mountains.

Wind gusts also reached 25 to 30 miles an hour Tuesday morning, especially in the higher elevations.

The National Weather Service also issued a high surf advisory from 6 a.m. Tuesday, through 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Swimmers and surfers need to be aware of powerful waves, and the risks of being washed out to sea.

The advisory affects the North Bay, San Francisco, Peninsula, Monterey and Big Sur coasts.

Up to a foot of snow is also expected to fall in the Sierra through Thursday.

Nighttime temperatures will be in the teens.
