RICHMOND (BCN)-- A rapper from Oakland is in stable condition this afternoon after he was shot early this morning in front of a gas station in Richmond, a police spokesman said.

At about 5:30 a.m., police received calls from people reporting a possible shooting at a gas station at Carlson Boulevard and Imperial Avenue, Richmond police Lt. Felix Tan said.

According to Tan, officers responded and found Charles Williams, 39, on the ground in front of the gas station suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Williams, who goes by the stage name Keak Da Sneak, was taken to a trauma hospital where he underwent surgery.

Tan said, "This appears to be a targeted incident."

He said he could not get into why, but police feel pretty confident that Williams was targeted.
