A locally-owned restaurant located at Ghirardelli Square gives us a sneak peak into its holiday-themed menu this season.

OAKLAND, Calif. - For many, the holiday season is busy and chaotic. And after the hustle and bustle leading up to Christmas Day, not having to cook on the day of feels like a well-deserved treat.

If you're considering a special meal out on the holiday or even grabbing take-out or some drive-thru grub, we've compiled a list of Bay Area eateries that might suit your needs.

Many on our list include Chinese restaurants, a popular cuisine during the Christmas season.

"Yelp searches for Chinese restaurants typically spike every December, as people look for cozy meals," the San Francisco-based review site said. "In 2023, the highest number of searches were on Christmas Day," Yelp noted.

Denny’s

Denny’s restaurants are open 365 days a year. The diner chain said guests should contact their location to confirm hours.

McDonald’s

Most are open, but hours vary by location. Customers are advised to check their local restaurants.

Burger King

Burger King restaurants’ holiday hours vary by location. Check with your local restaurant for its specific hours.

Wendy’s

Wendy’s locations will be open, according to the company’s website. Customers can check the chain's location finder for the most-up-to-date information on their local Wendy’s.

5 Spiced Kitchen - Oakland

Reservations are recommended for dining-in.

House of Nanking- San Francisco

Open 11 a.m. - 9 p.m.

Yank Sing - San Francisco

10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Reservations are highly recommended, Yang Sing said, adding the restaurant does accept walk-ins.

Palette Tea House - San Francisco

Opens 11 a.m., with the last seating scheduled for 7 p.m. Last call will be 7:30 p.m., the restaurant told KTVU. Reservations are recommended and can be made by e-mail, or through Tock.
