Shortly after 2 AM Sunday, Austin police responded to reports of an active shooter firing into a crowd in downtown Austin, Texas.

KTVU has learned that 30 year-old Teqnika Moultrie of San Carlos was one of five women hit by gunfire. Moultrie did not survive.

Moultrie was less than 24 hours into her trip from the Bay Area to Texas when her life tragically ended.

She went to Texas to visit her in-laws, following her marriage in April. Her wife, Sabrina, and Moultrie were set to have a wedding ceremony in October.

Family members tell KTVU that Moultrie worked for the Sequoia Union High School District as a bus driver. She loved kids, and was active in the community, playing softball on a local recreational team.

"Everyone's devastated. We never thought this would happen to her. She's the sweetest girl" said Richard Moultrie, Teqnika's brother.

Moultrie was supposed to return to the Bay Area on Tuesday. Now her family is planning funeral services, likely to be held in Redwood City.

Austin Police have identified a person of interest as 24 year-old Endicott McCray.
