Boy killed while crossing Camden Avenue in San Jose is 27th traffic fatality this year
SAN JOSE, Calif. - Police say the death of a boy crossing busy Camden Avenue in San Jose against the light near Kooser Road just after 5 p.m. on Friday was the city's 27th traffic fatality in 2021.
The boy, who was in the crosswalk when he was hit by a car heading south, was transported to a local hospital where he died shortly afterward.
The sports utility vehicle that hit him had a green light, police said, and neither alcohol nor drugs is suspected to be a factor in the collision.
Before Friday, there had been 25 fatal collisions in 2021 San Jose involving 26 victims, including eight other pedestrians.
The boy's identity will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after his identity is confirmed and his next of kin are notified, police said.
