British Airways to add flights from Oakland to London next year
OAKLAND, Calif. (KTVU) - British Airways will begin offering non-stop service from Oakland to London beginning next year as part of Oakland International Airport's expanding service to Europe, airport officials announced today.
The flights will take up to 275 passengers on board a Boeing 777 to Gatwick Airport in London four days a week starting on March 28. British Airways will be the first European airline to operate at all three Bay Area
airports.
Oakland already offers some flights to Europe, including to Gatwick on Norwegian Air, and will also add service to Barcelona and Copenhagen starting next year.
"We are so pleased to welcome British Airways to OAK and greet them with tremendous excitement as this new transatlantic service represents ever-expanding opportunities for our growing airport and the entire Bay
Area," Port of Oakland director of aviation Bryant Francis said in a statement.
Flights to and from London will arrive and depart on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
