Car wraps around pole in overnight Oakand crash
OAKLAND, Calif. (KTVU) - Police in Oakland speculate that a driver was probably going between 80 to 100 miles an hour, when he slammed into a power pole early Friday morning, at Foothill Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue in Oakland.
He was trapped in the car, as it wrapped around the pole.
Investigators say skid marks stretched 200 feet, suggesting that he was going very fast, and could not stop in time.
Firefighters had to use the jaws of life to extricate him.
His name has not been released, but it's believed that he is in his 20s.
A fire department spokesman says the driver likely suffered moderate injuries.
