SAN JOSE, Calif. (KTVU) - Christmas came early for more than 100 kids from San Jose.
It’s the 11th annual Shop With a Cop “Heroes and Helpers” event where officers from the San Jose Police Department and other Bay Area police agencies will spend the day shopping with underserved kids.
A total of 152 kids and 152 cops will head to Target with $150 gift cards in hand from the police foundation.
Each child will be paired with a police officer – around 930 the officers will escort the kids in police cars to target to start their shopping spree
Fifteen of those kids are suffering from traumatic situations in their lives including cancer survivors and homicide victims families – so this event gives them a couple hours of just feeling like kids again/
The goal is to give underserved children a chance to buy holiday gifts for themselves and their families and to build stronger relationships between youth and police.
