OAKLAND, Calif. - A cold front on Tuesday began moving toward the Northern California coast and will push across the Bay Area and the Central Coast later in the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.
The rain and wind appeared by about noon and got heavier at noon. The system should last through 5 p.m. and then reappear again on Wednesday, said KTVU meteorologist Steve Paulson.

Areas could get up to 1.5 inches of rain and up to 2 to 3 feet of snow in the Sierra. While there are no wind advisories, strong gusts could reach up to 55 mph at Mt. Diablo, Paulson said.
After a long wildfire season, this is the second significant rainstorm of the year.
Paulson said he hopes it's not the last.
