SAN JOSE VICE PRINCIPAL HELD: The interim vice principal at a San Jose high school has been arrested for having an inappropriate relationship with a teenage girl, police said today.
Jose Gonzalez, 35, of San Jose, who works at James Lick High School, was booked Tuesday on suspicion of annoying or molesting a child under 18, a misdemeanor.
The investigation began Friday, when school employees "were made aware of allegations the suspect Gonzalez was engaging inappropriate behavior with students at the school," said San Jose police Officer Albert Morales, a department spokesman.
During an internal campus investigation, a 17-year-old girl who is a student at the school said she had had an "inappropriate relationship" with Gonzalez at his home in July or August, police said.
Gonzalez is being held at Santa Clara County Jail in San Jose in lieu of $10,000 bail.
SUSPECT HELD IN RICHMOND FATAL HIT-AND-RUN: A suspect has been arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and run crash in Richmond, police said today.
Obed Obeso, 32, of Richmond was taken into custody Monday while he was a passenger in a car, said Richmond police Lt. Andre Hill.
Contra Costa County prosecutors charged Obeso today with vehicular manslaughter and hit-and-run, both felonies. His bail was set at $150,000.
Officers were called to investigate reports of a serious crash at Solano Avenue and Ventura Street at about 12:10 a.m. Friday, Hill said.
Police found Anthony Tonti, 77, of Walnut Creek, unresponsive behind the wheel of a 2011 Ford Fusion, Hill said. He died shortly thereafter.
Officers found the second vehicle, a 1998 Ford Ranger pickup truck, at the scene, but the driver had fled.
Police determined that the pickup driver didn't stop at a stop sign while speeding south on Ventura before crashing into Tonti.

Alejandro Benitez, 41, has been charged with murdering 16-month-old Kaden Bernard in 2012.
He allegedly killed the boy on April 11, 2012 while engaging in sex acts with boy, who was regularly babysat by Benitez' girlfriend. The boy died at the girlfriend's home in San Jose.
An autopsy determined that Kaden had suffered more than 40 injuries, both old and new and external and internal, "covering his body from head to toe," prosecutors said.
This is the second time that District Attorney Jeff Rosen has sought capital punishment. His office is also seeking the death penalty against Antolin Garcia-Torres, who is awaiting trial in the slaying of Morgan Hill teen Sierra Lamar. Lamar's body hasn't been found.
