SAN FRANCISCO (KTVU and BCN) - Counter-protesters have started to flood Alamo Square Park and the streets of San Francisco after Patriot Prayer cancelled their scheduled News Conference.
Protests appear to be remaining peaceful. Other anti-hate protests are taking place near Civic Center and the Castro District.
"Black Lives Matter" signs, rainbow banners and a marching band have joined the upbeat ad hoc gathering around Alamo Square Park, which police closed for safety reasons after Patriot Prayer organizers abruptly switched the location of their event to the park Friday.
San Francisco city officials spoke around 4:45 Saturday afternoon and said the protests remained peaceful throughout the day. SFPD says they made one arrest for public intoxication at today's protests.
They say they are prepared for any public safety issues that may arise throughout the night.
The city of San Francisco closed down the park, but eventually allowed demonstrators to stay. San Francisco Police have advised people to stay away from the area.
Riot police are present at the park and have allowed protesters to stay near Alamo Square Park.
Counter-protesters have also gathered nearby at Hayes and Fillmore.
