Couple wins high-tech, fairytale wedding in Sonoma County

SONOMA COUNTY, Calif. (KTVU) – A Southern California couple tied the knot on Thursday in the wine country during a high-tech, crowdsourced wedding, which allowed the bride's mother to view the special day from her hospital room.

Taylor and Samantha Sinclair from Redondo Beach, Calif. were chosen by America after winning The Knot Dream Wedding. The Knot is a multiplatform wedding resource known for its website theknot.com.

The fairytale nuptials took place at Sonoma winery Chateau St. Jean in Kenwood, CA. The band, flowers, food and drinks, and all of the other details of the wedding were also chosen by America.

"I think America has great taste so they were able to pick up on the personality of the bride and the groom," Jeanie Savage, the Los Angeles based wedding planner said.

The couple said they were excited for the chance to document their special day.

"This wedding could not be more perfect in the sense that it's so well broadcast and covered in ways we could have never imagined," Samantha Taylor, the bride, said.

Some of the high-tech wedding features included a photo booth linked to social media, a 3-D printer that made the bridesmaid bracelets and groomsmen's cuff links, and a robotic bartender that worked with the touch of an app.

Most importantly, The Knot live streamed the entire wedding online. It meant Samantha's mother, who has cancer, could watch from her hospital room.

"With my mom in the state that she's at, we wouldn't have been able to share this with her," Samantha said. "Maybe someone could have recorded it and shown it to her, but this way she is a part of it as much as she can be."

All of the special moments were streamed live online, including the couple's first dance in which country singer Canaan Smith performed. The couple was also surprised with a Honeymoon trip to Tahiti.

Taylor Sinclair, the groom, said they got their dream wedding, but the details did not matter. At the end of the day their fairytale is just beginning.

"It's more about the person you're marrying and the people you're celebrating with," Taylor said.
