Firefighters battled a vegetation fire near Concord on Wednesday afternoon.

Cal Fire SCU, with better mapping, downgraded the acreage to 62 acres. Officials said the fire broke out near Willow Pass and Avila roads, just north of Concord.

Cal Fire and firefighters from the Contra Costa Fire Protection District responded to the blaze.

The fire was first reported at around 1:30 p.m. About an hour later, forward progress had stopped.

In an evening update, the fire agency said the fire has been 85% contained.
