Deadly crash blocks lanes of I-680 in San Ramon

SAN RAMON (BCN) - At least one person has died following a collision on Interstate Highway 680 Monday morning in San Ramon, according to California Highway Patrol.

At 4:40 a.m., CHP responded to the incident involving a motorcyclist and a vehicle, happening in the southbound lanes of the highway, just south of Bollinger Canyon Road, CHP officials said.

When officers arrived, the motorcyclist was in the roadway and was unable to answer questions, according to CHP.

A big rig involved in the accident struck the center median and caught fire, CHP said.

It was not immediately clear if any other vehicles were involved in the collision.

CHP officials issued a Sig-alert at 5:25 a.m., closing all southbound lanes on the highway, except for the right lane.

At 5:30 a.m., CHP officials closed the Bollinger Canyon Road onramp to southbound Highway 680, according to CHP.
