Deadly crash forces closure overnight of a section of EB highway
NEWARK, Calif. (KTVU & BCN) - A deadly crash forced an East Bay highway to shut down for several hours from late Friday night, into early Saturday morning.
The CHP reports a black Volkswagen lost control and overturned on the eastbound lanes of Highway 84, just west of Interstate 880 in Newark.
The crash happened just before 9:30 p.m. Friday.
One person died at the scene.
The CHP says a second vehicle, a black Honda Accord, was involved in the incident.
A Sig-alert was issued just before 10 p.m.
The CHP reopened all lanes of 84 at about 12:45 a.m.
