Deadly gunshots in Redwood City
A person died early Thursday morning in Redwood City from gunshot wounds, police said.
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - An 18-year-old male was killed in an early Thursday morning shooting in Redwood City, police said in an evening update.
Capt. Ashley Osborne said that officers were called out to Adams Street at Jefferson Avenue in the back of Whole Foods Market at 1:40 a.m.
Police found a person bleeding from gunshot wounds, Osborne said.
Paramedics began giving the person treatment, but they were pronounced dead at the scene.
The name of the victim has not been released. Police did not offer any more details.
Officers had blocked off the crime scene with yellow tape and a clear view of where the shooting took place was not immediately apparent.
Police are investigating the shooting and are asking anyone with more information to come forward.
Homicides are not that common in Redwood City, although one occurred just two months ago.
In December, 57-year-old Juan Antonio Garcia was charged with fatally stabbing his wife of 13 years, 33-year-old Odilia Borhsicajau in their Redwood City home.
