A dump truck went off a road, rolled over onto a large palm tree and slid into a residence in unincorporated San Leandro this morning but the driver's injuries weren't life-threatening and no one else was hurt, Alameda
County fire officials said.

The incident occurred at 9:26 a.m. at the intersection of Saratoga Street and Strang Avenue, several blocks east of Interstate Highway 590, fire officials said.

Fortunately for the dump truck driver, the palm tree helped break the truck's fall before it slid into the house, according to fire officials.

The dump truck driver was extricated by firefighters and then treated for his injuries, fire officials said. No one who lives at the house was injured and neither were any of the emergency personnel who responded to
the incident.

Paramedics, California Highway Patrol officers and PG&E workers assisted the Alameda County Fire Department in responding to the incident.
