The A’s were defeated 4-3 by the Chicago White Sox at Monday night's season home opener at the Oakland Coliseum.

The first pitch in the four-game homestand against Chicago was at 7:05 p.m. where a sold-out crowd of about 35,000 ecstatic A's fans were wearing the team's colors of green and California Gold.

Sonny Gray was set to make his third consecutive opening day start, but he came down with food poisoning. Rich Hill will replace him.

Despite the loss, that didn't stop fans from coming out to the ballpark on a picture-perfect day. KTVU was there to bring you a glimpse of the festivities.
